  • If you walk away, fight for your inheritance. I'm a firm believer that it should be excluded from separation considerations but unfortunately it is.
  • I was happy until I found out. However this is the second time now. First time was 6 years ago. I reconciled with him as our first child was only young at the time.
But I can’t do it again.

I completely forgot about maintenance so that’s something to look at.

Gosh only possibly 50% of the equity. That is absolutely terrifying though as the area I’m currently living in a and was hoping to stay in due to school and being close to family, I can’t even afford a tiny 2 bed for that. And that’s with what I’ve worked out I could potentially borrow maximum mortgage wise.

Does he have a pension or any other investments? you could likely take more equity for leaving his pension in tact.

Sometimes the parent with care and the children get to stay in the family home until the youngest child finishes school.

Also do you have any pensions?
  • I don’t have a pension. He does, although he’s only had one for about 6 years but pays into it monthly. I know how much he pays in but I don’t know how much is in there as he’s never had a statement.

you could do a ball park assessment , 8% of salary per year would be the minimum.
