Cistern siphon replacement

Hi
I have an old Shires Lynx seperate type cistern (side entry supply) for my downstairs and only loo and the flush is hit and miss.
Thinking that the diaphragm may be worn but it’s an old type siphon. Clear plastic but the flap valve is round.
Not sure if it’s possible to just replace the diaphragm or could renew the siphon for a modern one.
These are cheap and are the same height:

The ball valve is fairly close to the neck of the current siphon and it looks like it’s all made to fit.
Just wondering if the new ones like in the link, can be installed ok in the old cisterns.
Any help appreciated.

Replaced the siphon in my loo not that long ago. Used a very similar device, and fitted OK. Have since needed to replace the fill valve... Should have done it at the same time. Might be worth your while too. For side entry, https://www.toolstation.com/viva-skylo-side-entry-flll-valve/p36103
Bottom entry,

Thanks for the reply.
The side entry fill valve is a good idea if the ball type gets in the the way of the new siphon. Ideally I’d keep the ball valve as I’ve recently renewed it due to the original leaking at the inlet joint.
The handle and shaft is on the same side as the inlet pipe so not sure if the updated type will fit in.
Would post a pic but Photobucket has reduced their free hosting storage.
I can get the Opella siphon from Homebase and they said I can return it if not suitable.0 -

I've found my local branches of Toolstation and Screwfix to be very accommodating on returns, even when packaging has been opened. Her courage will change the world.

Fixed at last.
Have been delaying the job as it still worked, albeit inconsistently.
The flapper diaphragm was worn out.
No more than a couple hours work and £6 for the Opella siphon which fitted perfectly.
