Smart meter gas looks way high

Do the monthly bills show actual or estimated readings? The rollout fiasco means that your smart meter will probably have gone dumb if it wasn't provided by EDF. Similarly, if the battery in the gas meter is failing it won't be able to phone home. If a dumb meter means that EFD are using incorrect estimated readings it could explain the crazy DD.

OP can you split the £284 (that's £3400 a year) between gas and electric please?

You say gas is 28,000 kWh. At (say) 3.5p this is £1000; assume elec is 4000 kWh at (say) 17p this is £700. Add a bit for standing charges gives about £1900.

Something doesn't add up.

By smart meter do you mean the IHD toy in your kitchen or the actual meter in your garage or outdoor meter box ? It's the actual meter that matters - is this the one with the dodgy display ?
