Applying for amazon mastercard for free gift card

Hello,

I am in the middle of doing my christmas shopping on amazon and was offered an amazon giftcard if I was successful for applying for an amazon mastercard.

If I was to apply and be approved for the mastercard, use the gift card but then not use the mastercard whatsoever (I would rather make my christmas purchases with money I have aside from my bonus), would there be any charges or otherwise negative consequences?

Thankyou

Is it really worth all the bother for a £20 gift card if you don't intend to use the credit card?

There would be no charges. Potential negative consequences would be a hard search of your credit files and the appearance of a credit card account closed soon after and your having to go to the trouble of calling the credit card issuer and cancelling it.

If you get the platinum one - you earn points - more if you have prime - so if you put all your christmas shopping on it, and then pay it off - you might get another free voucher on top....If you're the kind of person that always clears cards - this is one way to get something for nothing....

I got this card last christmas it also came with a £20 voucher, they gave me 3 mths interest free on purchases, i used it over christmas, paid it off and then closed it later in the year, worked well for me, watch out for them making it the prefered payment option on your'e amazon account though.

Don't forget if you apply for the Amazon (NewDay) card and are successful, Amazon will replace your default purchase card with that one automatically.

Google New Day credit card to see what others think of the card

Ignore "TrustPilot" reviews and the like.

They are usually left by people who don't understand credit cards and then get hit with extortionate interest charges and so on and don't understand why.
  • No charges.

No negative consequences besides the temporary impact of a hard credit check.
