Paid into wrong bank account

Hi,
I have just noted that DWP has made a payment into my account that was not meant for me & it has credited my account so they can not recall it. Anyone else has this? And how did you resolve it? Thanks

I think your own bank will need to contact you for permission to return the money. Do not attempt to pay it back yourself directly, by writing a cheque for example. That will only compound the problems.
You could speak to your own bank and let them know that money has been paid to your account by DWP and it is not for you.
  • It wasn't for £10 was it?

What is the point of this question? Venison asked if it was £10 because people on many benefits get an additional £10 payment at this time of year and OP may have not realised that. Your question appears completely random.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

They possibly were referring to the winter fuel payment - which would be due around this time.

Their post, at face value, doesn't appear to be any more random than the one made by Venison - both should have elaborated further.

And what was the point of your post, have to agree with LilElvis, no different to another poster asking if it were for £10.00.

Not a random question at all, the poster was obviously referring to a possible winter fuel payment but I think they are paid in November, doesn't mean to say it could have been paid later.

I am sure that when you realise this you will agree it was a perfectly valid question.

    Agree with that.
Unless OP posts back we’ll never know!

How do you know that it wasn't meant for you? Or do you mean you don't know what it was for?
