in Credit cards
Hello,
My wife purchased something from Debenhams and she was asked if would like a discount. Who doesn't want that ?! So she ended up sigining for a credit card, eventually we had it delivered.
I've never seen such a complicated leaflet and is NOT clear at all what would happen if we use the credit card and pay the balance at the end of the month. Will they charge daily interest or if the balance is paid in full by the end of the month, we won't be have to worry about it ?
I'm not sure how this works, I spent an hour reading their leaflet and still can't figure out clearly what's involved.
I'm very tempted to cancel it and put an end to it.
From another point of view, she had a CC refused before so could be a good opportunity to build a credit score.
Thanks a lot

Forget about building a credit score.
If she wants a credit card keep it otherwise cancel it.
As from your OP it would appear that neither yourself nor your wife have held a credit card before it may be a good idea to have one
Presumably you have already used the credit card in order to have obtained the discount. You will receive a statement in due course. Pay in full by the due date and you will not be charged interest. Pay less than the full balance and you will be charged interest.0 -
I signed up for the Debenhams CC about a year ago specifically to get the discount on a high value item I was buying from them. As others have pointed out, it works the same as virtually all other CC's. Pay in full by due date and no interest, I set up a DD online for mine, others prefer to pay manually, personal choice.
If it's like mine you should also accrue points as you spend, every three months these will be converted into Debenhams vouchers. All purchases earn points but extra points for buying from Debenhams.0 -
You make purchases on the card. You will receive a statement (by post or electronicallywith a due date on it. As long as you pay, in full before that date, you will not accrue any interest.
The best way to acheive this is to set-up a direct debit to pay in full, each month.0
