Most DIY problems can be solved by a combination of spanner, pliers, screwdriver, Allan key and a blade. (Hold it, twist it, cut it!) Very occasionally industrial language, a hammer and an adhesive may need to be added to the mix. (Curse it, hit it, patch it!)0 -
Weekly update. Usual £10 SO, £14.17 from Date Night account. Spent £26.19 from Luxuries so it will be a few weeks before that breaks £500 again.

Usual weekly update, sorry this diary isn't too interesting.£10 SO, £20 from Date Nights, Luxury will break £500 next week. Taken a big hit on Disposable Income account as I was given some Christmas money a little while ago, so transferred the cash value of it into my Savings so it's been saved and will use the cash over the next few weeks.£215.46/£2900Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

Every little bit helps. Have you thought about selling some of your cider to friends and family? Or maybe gifting some for birthdays or Christmas?

Sadly I'm the only one who really likes cider! I do make beer as well, but the running total for Christmas, birthdays, etc. is under £300 for everybody all in over the course of the year. Mum, Dad and SWMBO, plus a small birthday present each for my Aunt and Uncle. All include Father's/Mothers Day, Valentines, Anniversary, etc. The other problem is that I live a fair distance away so the cost of postage is probably as much if not more than buying a gift, but it's an excellent thought! If I have a friend who is having a birthday I occasionally pass on a bottle of homebrew, but we don't really do presents.I have certainly accepted that I'm in it for the long haul. I have started Matched Betting as well, which will certainly help once the initial float is repaid back into my account. Ideally I just want to make enough that I cover my disposable income so I can put that towards my savings.Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

Valentines Day. Massive £80 to Date Night funds. That will take roughly two months to build back up to £100. Also readjusted my Disposable Income fund to anything above £150 into savings. Due to SWMBO's redundancy she's had to sign on, which means we have to do it as a couple (because rules I guess?). So, that means had to supply bank statements of the various accounts, etc. that I have. The lady doing the interview was amazed about how I keep track of everything, particularly as it was all in separate accounts. Still - for every £250 (or portion of) above a £6000 cap one of you has in savings, ISAs, stocks and shares, etc. you're docked by £4.35 and as it's going to SWMBO, she gets docked by £4.35 because I have saved money through hard work. So £100 Date Nights + £150 Disposable = £4.35 docked. £100 + £200 = £8.70 docked. Awesome. /sarcasm Still, Luxuries has topped £500 again.£10 + £0.40 (Date Night before Valentines) + £3.81 (Luxury) = A modest £14.21£229.67/£2900Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

Apologies for the lack of updates. £22 saved the week before, plus £25 from last week. Alcohol deposit has been raised from £2 per week to £5 per week. Making a small amount through Matched Betting. For now content with enough to pay for the fortnightly veg box.

Good luck on your journey. Could you get your OH to do surveys, receipt hogg and similar to bring in some pennies? It's unusual to dare to make a pregnant person redundant - has she looked at whether she could make a claim against them or was it part voluntary?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
