£1300 in hole to Don't Touch It! Savings

£4.00 transferred for booze consumption. One pint, one half with lunch and two cocktails purchased by SWMBO.

Most DIY problems can be solved by a combination of spanner, pliers, screwdriver, Allan key and a blade. (Hold it, twist it, cut it!) Very occasionally industrial language, a hammer and an adhesive may need to be added to the mix. (Curse it, hit it, patch it!)0 -
Afternoon everybody! Had a NSD yesterday and it did feel good. This included doing a charity shop run and offloading a nice pile of tat. SWMBO did decide that we should stop in a pub so she could have a soft drink but I just had water. Today the Christmas cheque cleared so I have divided that up appropriately. As it's a gift I don't feel that I can put it towards my savings debt in the same way as the deficit is from my own fritterings, but I can top up various accounts. However I am also trying (and mostly succeeding) at not buying more tat or food, even if there is a yellow label on it. It's only a bargain/saving if you would have bought the item anyway.
Luxury - Topped up to £500 limit. All further additions can be sent to pay off the deficit.
Date nights - Topped up to £80. £20 will come in on Friday, a portion spent on fish and chips, then the following week will result in a small change deposit.
The rest I have kept in my Current account. Once the (budgeted for) Christmas CC spends have been deducted, my next plan is to get and keep my Current account at £1500, with any extras going to pay down the deficit.Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

Happy new year to you all on MSE!
A LSD yesterday. £3.30 on some party food to top up supplies for family visiting. At least it will freeze, plus £1 booze bounty for a big glass of cider over New Year's Eve.
Today was a high spend day with a trip out to a chain Caribbean restaurant with family coming in at £125 including gratuity. I had two G&Ts, so £2 booze bounty paid. This went onto a CC, but it was semi-budgeted (you never know how much or how little people want to eat and drink). This will also be the only charge on the card when the statement comes through. Looking forward to Friday when I can snowball the Luxury fund transfer into the deficit repayment!
£41.69/1300.
Also SWMBO has decided to do the £3.65 challenge after seeing it on Facebook. It's good that something savings related has come onto her radar.Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

All standing orders have been dispatched. £10 surplus in Luxury fund, so that has gone towards the savings deficit along with the usual £10.

The good: £10 through regular means, £10 from Luxury Fund and £20 from Date Night Fund.
£132.39/1300
The bad: SWMBO is now on unpaid maternity along with redundancy so no funds coming in for a good few months. If we say four months of carrying over all the bills, that's roughly £1600 to add to this "debt" pile. Whilst this is exactly what my emergency savings are for, I still need to pay them back. New "debt" figure - 2900.
And it felt so good to hit 10%...Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

Four drinks had over the weekend, so £4 in the pot. SWMBO is finally getting on board with batch cooking and similar efforts too!
