accident compensation

So my daughter 3 weeks after passing her test had a car run into the back of her at enough speed to cause £4000 worth of damage (to a 5 year old car) She suffered minor aches and pains nothing paracetamol didn't sort, no need to see a Dr.
The lady driving the car was vile, shouted at her and caused great distress, She was in such a state when I got to her I had to take her for a coffee to calm her down so she could drive home. Passers by stopped to stay with my daughter because they were concerned by the shouting from the lady in the other car.
It's now been settled as no fault on my daughters part.(she's 17 and had passed her test 3 weeks before)
The insurance company (direct line) are now suggesting we should claim compensation for minor aches and pains and distress. They seem to find it odd that I question our need for compensation. But surely all this claim culture just pushes up the cost of insurance in the first place. Ethically is this right ? Yes it wasn't pleasant but thats life isn't it. I'm fairly sure the lady involved would claim if the shoe was on the other foot but I'm just uneasy about it. Any thoughts ?

Yeah I had an accident when I was doing a turn in the road because it was blocked & someone else tried to drive past me and I didn't spot them as I reversed. They claimed for whip lash for two people, even though there was only one person in the car and at the scene he had admitted he shouldn't have tried to drive past. That is life, I wouldn't do that.
But given the chance I would make sure I was made whole. So I'd ask for any out of pocket expenses, lost earnings etc. https://www.oliverandco.co.uk/guides/what-out-of-pocket-expenses-am-i-entitled-to/ In my mind that isn't the same as putting in a dodgy medical claim.0 -
Get your daughter to run through with her insurers how she suffered and ask them if there is a claim to be had. If she doesn't over exaggerate and tells the truth then they will tell her how to proceed.
Yours, mine and her insurance will go up if she claims or not so ring the register and see how much comes out.0
