O/S Daily Tuesday 10 December 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark, cold and frosty start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was fish, chips, beans for the menfolk, I had baked fish and veg. I remembered to get the sausages out to defrost so we'll be having those either with egg and bacon etc, or something else.
Yesterday work was steady, although the first job I do on a Monday was a bit of a nightmare as someone else had left it in a mess so I did the best I could with it and luckily a more senior staff member was in and so they took over to see what had been going on. I'm working at the other office today and I haven't been there for 2 weeks due to staffing issues so will be nice for a change and its my early finish too.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC - hope you have a good day at work.
I haven't looked out so I don't know what the weather's like, the forecast is not good though.
Yesterday wasn't bad at all, very cold, but fine.
I'm starting the day with strong coffee and Ibup*ofen as usual, to get me going.
Dgs will be here for his usual Tuesday with us, a bit earlier than usual as Mum is going to his sister's Christmas play, and pre schoolers aren't allowed.
He was here yesterday for a couple of hours while his Mum went for a hairdo, then his sister was here for her usual Monday after school visit - it's all go.
I thought we would go out this morning before Dgs's nap - there's a massive Tosco a few miles away and I would like to buy the 2 youngest some pyjamas, their Mum said to get them as part of their Christmas presents. The supermarket stuff is nice, and we might have a bite there then he can sleep when we get home.
I must catch up with Christmas, I don't know what's happened this year, think I'm in denial.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Take care folks0 -

Twice in the last few days, I've put the washing machine on, gone to empty it and realised I hadn't put the clothes in. At least the machine is nice and clean. I've put it on this morning, the clothes are definitely in it, lol.
I still have some work to do, I stopped so I could get that tree up
I've put the fairy lights and strings of beads on, just the baubles to do now. Also decorated the fireplace, but that never looks finished until it's surrounded by poinsettias which I'm not buying just yet.
I think my cold is kicking in properly, I woke up feeling awful. I have lemsips, etc at the ready but I don't like using these things unless I absolutely have to. I'll wrap up well for our walk – though I don't think I'll manage to stay out for long – then carry on with work things this morning. Decorations may or may not be done later, I'll see how I feel. Comfort food today, and plenty of oranges

Morning All
Thanks for the tune tru, one of my favourites.
It's really rough outside, the wind is really howling this morning and the rain is coming down sideways. I may need an ark to get to work!
There are Christmas hampers to go out at work today, donated by a local charity, everything you need for Christmas day food - a turkey joint, pigs in blankets, veg, cheese & crackers, etc - a lovely treat for some of our families.
Still trying to get the house tidied after the weekend, will make a better effort tonight, I ran out of steam yesterday.
You've certainly got your work cut out Mehefin, I take my hat off to you.
Have a safe and happy Tuesday, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. We seem to be missing the strong winds that are battering you further south. Fingers crossed no damage for you. It feels very mild this morning, we never get two days alike do we!
It's my usual Tuesday meet up with my old friend today. I am still addicted to their raspberry tea as a change from coffee. We thought we would plump for the Christmas dinner this week but our thinking is subject to change by lunchtime!
I just hope I can get on the bus this morning. We dropped to the hourly service into town at the w/e and yesterday was a nightmare. The first bus us oldies with passes can use is now the 9.45 one. Yesterday they sent up a small bus which they obviously thought was a good idea when condensing two bus trips into one! By the time it left the village it was packed with more folk standing than it should have. People waiting further down the hill were just left standing at their bus stops! I suspect they will now get the bus on its way up and it will be half full by the time it gets up here. Maybe someone in charge with a bit of sense might suggest putting a bigger bus on! Rant over ...!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad and convalescing. JACKIE how are you doing? Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
Up with the larks for a 'comfort break' though that means I've managed to sleep all night. :j First time in a month!
Late yesterday a parcel arrived from my fabulous cousin in Berlin. It was stuffed full of Christmas goodies and three little jars of his homemade jams - quince, gooseberry and blackberry. I don't eat jams but love the gesture.
In contrast to lives led here I will be having another quiet day! The forecast is horrendous again so I won't be going out. I can tell I'm healing as I'm getting increasingly bored. When I go for my physio appointment tomorrow I'm going to have a go at driving (in a large empty space first). Once I can do an emergency stop without any problem I'll be set to 'go'.
Thanks for the ditty TRU, hope you feel better soon.
Happy Tuesday to all.0 -
Good morning all x
Thanks for the Carol tru , that one always reminds me of being at infant school.
Well dh up and off to work with his soup so he is happy.
Dd2 is just getting ready as I can hear her banging around upstairs.
Today I must finish the scarf for dgd only 28cm left to do.
Plan for today is to conquer the ironing mountain. I did all the housework yesterday. If I finish the scarf I intend to start drawing out the embroidery pattern of a mermaid theme for a cushion for dgd bed. I know I spoil her but she is worth it.
Belle the dog will be wanting her walk soon so better get dressed and take her out.
Hugs to all in need xxBright Blessings xx0 -
Morning everyone
I have to go and wait at a neighbour’s house for her Sainsbury delivery this morning because she was offered a cancellation yesterday afternoon for a hospital appointment she has been waiting months for. She always helps me out checking on the house and picking up my post for me when I’m away so I am pleased to be able to return the favour.
A neighbour who recently moved in over the road put up really lovely outside lights and lights in a large fir tree in their front garden and it looks so pretty. Yesterday I received an invitation from them for a Christmas party at the weekend so want to try and find a small gift for them. There is a nice independent gift shop opened up in town recently so I will have a look in there on my way to the museum this afternoon.
Thanks for the song tru my favourite.
Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Morning all
Blowing a hooley here this morning and rain due later for most of the day.
I went to bed just about 7.30 last night I was so tired I was falling asleep on the sofa, I was asleep by 8.30 after reading for a while and slept all night through !! I must have needed it, roll on the Christmas break as I think we all need it at work.
Dinner tonight will be pasta with salad and garlic bread so nice and easy. Will do a wash tonight too and have a sweep through.
Might have to get a pack of Christmas cards from somewhere I dont send many if any but I always receive them from neighbors and elderly relatives so feel I need to send a few out, I give some dog food to a local dog shelter in lieu of the cards and postage.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone,
I feel I've just about recovered from back-to-back nights out over the weekend - something I've not done since my uni days. Both were a really good night and from an MSE perspective, I didn't spend too much either which is always nice to wake up and realise!
So, must get back into the swing of things. I'll go to the gym after work today I recon. Got up early this morning to make my soup for my lunches this week, meaning I can collect some NSD's too. Gnocchi for dinner tonight, probably my favourite pasta actually. I may also do some wrapping but I might wait till I have had everything arrive.
TA - Raspberry tea!?! Sounds delish.0 -
