There are some creative suggestions on pinterest.
In the past I have got a Christmas bag 3 for 2 basic at Tesco and filled it with Christmassy bits such as thorntons chocolate bags, small prosecco, individual Christmas cakes, a single Christmas scratch card. Usually cost about £6 per person. Popped in a Christmas card with a thankyou. Could the same gift bag be delivered to the ones off sick?
Other years we have had staff meetings at Christmas and I have bought some nice biscuits or some buffet bits for us to share.0 -
Funky pigeon do nice personalised mugs, we have bought them for team members before.
My boss bought a funky little shopping bag which folds up very small, I have had the t for about 7 years and still use it.0 -
This year I told my team of 37 that instead of buying biscuits or chocolates I was going to buy a gift for the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas so that a child who wouldn't be receiving a gift this year would have something to open on Christmas morning. They were all very happy and thought it was a lovely idea. Ended up buying 2 gifts from B&M in their 2 for £20 sale so now 2 children receive a gift.
There is no way I could afford to buy the whole team something.0 -
If you want to get something, I'd just go for a box of choccies. My old boss used to give us a little box of truffles which was lovely, and when I looked closely at the bottom (so I could buy more!) they were from Aldi - so doubt they cost much.
Someone mentioned that people might have dietary issues etc. I wouldn't worry. If you know of anyone where that's the case, buy the something appropriate. If you don't know then you don't know. My hubby is reluctantly gluten free (has to be due to coeliac disease, doesn't want to be). Any food he's given that he can't eat comes my way.
It doesn't bother him though. 0 -
Suggestion from IvysMom is a good one,it means nothing is unwanted and 2 children get something to open.0

I would go for chocolatesrathe than wine - it's less expensive and while not eveyone likes it / can eat it, it is less likely to cuase major issus which might be the case if a team member or their partner is a recovering alcoholic, or doesn't drink for relgious reasons.
Hotel chocolat do things such as mini penguins or santas for about £3.50 a pop, with somthing like that you hav a tokn gift - then do a card and write a short personal message in it, thanking them for their work and, of you can, mentioning a specifc thing they do particualrly well. The reciognition and appreciation is worth a lot.
Hotel chocolat r the equivalent is a littlebit more luxurious but you could do the same with the Malteaser reindeer or the little Lindt deer - it's not trying to be a big gift, just a little 'thank you, I've noticed your work'
And the chocolate can always be used as a stocking filler if they don't like it themselves.
I wouldn't do mugs or pens - it's dificult to pick something that will appeal to eveyone, and because they are not consumables people may feel that they have to keep them / use them so they don't hurt your feelings!
Get something small and consumable
