Ikea going back on their refund

I believe their query was possibly highlighting inconsistencies in a polite way.
For example, telling us you went back to bed when in your OP, you said you told IKEA that you needed a bed that same night so wanted a refund to go buy one.
Was the bed you were going back to a cinderella one, that turns into a pumpkin on the stroke of midnight?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

If you have a spare room with a spare bed, why the urgency to rush out and buy yet another new one?
I really should learn to refresh before I post.

Is that a fourth bed now that OP went back to?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
That's where you went wrong, why did you accept the second part? By accepting their mistake you have accepted the full delivery now.Bexgrossman wrote: »
After I made the call to Ikea the delivery drivers came back with the missing item. I accepted the item and made a mental note to call Ikea.
What was the time line between the first call to Ikea and the second delivery? It reads like it was the same day as you say "after you made the call they came back".0 -

I was on night shift so I had to go back to sleep to prepare myself for work. I’ve had a sick family member move in, so I would prefer they didn’t sleep on the floor being 75 years old. I also needed to help with assembling the bed hence that’s why it was all planned and done on the same day.0 -

Why did I accept the delivery? Because they were at my front door and they had the part. I had already called Ikea and arranged for recollection/refund and it’s Ikea and I thought they were helpful.
Called Ikea today and spoke to another person. Still unclear as to their policy on returns but she said to return to the store and the customer service person will make the final decision. Which is helpful, and not so helpful.
I hope that explains the action and you decide to be a bit more thoughtful.0 -
I'm certain you'll be refunded if the bed is still packaged and easily returned to stock. I and others already suggested this earlier in the thread.Bexgrossman wrote: »she said to return to the store and the customer service person will make the final decision.
They are obviously not going to give you a decision over the 'phone without any sight of the item. I would be just as non-committal.Bexgrossman wrote: »Which is helpful, and not so helpful.0 -
I agree with you Op that you being helpful has backfiredBexgrossman wrote: »Why did I accept the delivery? Because they were at my front door and they had the part. I had already called Ikea and arranged for recollection/refund and it’s Ikea and I thought they were helpful.

I would also have expected that Ikea having made the mistake in the first place would not punish you for trying to keep the bed parts that were to go back all in one place which must make their job easier and I would have expected that once they had agreed to refund the bed at no cost they would honour this commitment come what may.
The very least I would myself do if they don't play ball would be to go back to the store ask for the manager and be very noisey0 -

Thank you. Yes I will know for next time!
I was thinking maybe I reject this current bed as not being satisfactory quality? It’s within the two weeks or does that not matter when it’s been exchanged?
I don’t think if I went to the store it would make any difference as they can see the notes and I will look like a difficult customer.
However as most of the items are in the Unopened box (just not the slats but I have the box for that) I hope they will return the goods.0 -
Why are any items at all out of the box?Bexgrossman wrote: »most of the items are in the Unopened box0
