Sending a Cheque To American Friend

I need to send my friend in the US $2000, but he is a very old school guy, doesn't have Paypal, doesn't trust giving out bank details, so wants a cheque in US $'s.
Does anyone know how I can do this? I have a UK bank account.

Your bank (if a major bank) should be able to give you a cheque drawn in USD on their nostro account with their USA partner bank. You will need to arrange this in branch.
If you have an account with a minor bank or building society, they probably won't offer the service at all.
Alternative is something like Western Union or Moneygram where he can pick up cash at his end.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
