I use Arlo. I only switch them on away from home so batteries last about 6 months

    no ongoing charges

Do these cameras work "through" double glazing - I mean the movement detector - we have a conservatory by a path
I am interested in what happens on our property at night but don't want to lose an expensive camera
They appear problematic from user reports ?
Do they store images locally or via a hub ?
Are the batteries rechargeable or not ?
How do they last 6 months of use ?
Cost of replacement batteries (if not rechargeable)?

Arlo or Blink XT. The batteries, which are rechargeable last for months. No, they're not good at using behind a window, you have to install them correctly outside as intended.

The footage is stored via the cloud and the reason the batteries can last so long is simply because the camera is only active for short periods of time, when tripped, they're not filming all the time.

I didn't think Blink used rechargeable batteries, there's nothing in the paperwork about recharging & no charger supplied.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

You're quite correct, Blink uses non-rechargeable Lithium AA batteries which should last up to 2 years according to their specs.

One workaround is to get a camera where in the firmware you can switch off the internal ir LEDs to stop internal reflections from the glass. Outside put one or two halogen type led lights with a proximity sensor (pir or microwave) on them to light up outside.

You can deduce anything, none of it particularly reliable, by reading Amazon reviews.

The Arlo - does it require a monthly subscription ?
How does it send mobile alerts ? via a SIM ?
Again - at what cost ?
There are so many potential pit falls in getting a security system set up and I want to make sure that I get it right - first time
