White meter plus conflicting information from SP
hi folks
I have spoken to two different scottish power staff regarding moving mum from white meter plus with the three tarriffs to E7
one said it can be done and they would change to meter for free , one said that merging three into two means there would be no link for the storage heaters.
am really confused , I though moving onto E7 would mean a day rate and then a night rate which would be the control and night joined .
I know at present the white meter plus is for about 8.5 hours compared to E7 for 7 hours but the intention is the get a electric fire the for the livingroom but cant do this on the high current tariff
any one able to help
thanks

Short of burning banknotes, an electric fire on daytime E7 rates (which are usually dearer than single rate) is the most expensive form of heating you can possibly have !0

You need to speak to the specialised team that SP should have set up for this very purpose, rather than the standard customer service rep at their call centre.
You may need to have some rewiring so that the storage heaters can be controlled by either a time switch or the metering.
Hopefully the Restricted Metering Team should have more info.
Read this so you've got a better idea of what might be possible https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/Global/CitizensAdvice/Energy/Energy%20Consultation%20responses/Restricted%20Meter%20Good%20Practice%20Guide.pdf and if you cant get any sense out of SP have a word with the CAB
Have a shufti here as well - https://www.cas.org.uk/system/files/publications/hard-wired_problems_-_delivering_effective_support_-_11-10-2018_0.pdfNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
