Boiler and thermostat advise needed
Options
I have recently moved into my first home. The house has a Worcester Greenstar Si combi boiler. When we moved in there was no thermostat for the boiler, something I know the previous owners did have. Currently we are heating the home by simply having the boiler either on or off, something that isn't the most energy efficient.
Now I want to install a thermostat for the boiler. However I have no idea where to start. Are these boilers already set up and ready to have a wireless thermostat introduced? Do I simply need to buy one and start using it? Or is there something else that needs installing on the actual boiler to start using one?

A wireless thermostat comprises two units. The thermostat which is located in the room of your choice and controls the temperature in the room by switching the boiler on and off and a receiver unit which has to be connected to the boiler which actually does the switching.
Most boilers have the connections to allow an external thermostat (or receiver to be connected) Generally there are five wires - Live, Neutral and Earth to power the receiver and two which perform the switching.
If you got some idea of what you are doing then it's not at all difficult - just download or find the boiler installation instructions and find the appropriate boiler connections. Look here to find your boiler https://www.worcester-bosch.co.uk/professional/support/literature/greenstar-si-compact-combi-installation-instructions] Have a look on page 32 of the post 2105 instructions.
Ideally a programmable thermostat is what you need as it will allow you to have different temperatures at different times of the day and different days of the week and it eliminates the need for a timer or programmer.
something like this will do the trick https://www.amazon.co.uk/Salus-RT500RF-Programmable-Radio-Frequency/dp/B003ERP1LE, others are availableNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Bit puzzled by what you say here. You have no thermostat for the boiler (Heating ) but the previous owner had one. Did they take it with them ? Assume it would have been a portable one like a Hive . In which case you could do the same.0
