Faulty television from Curry’s

Hi everyone,
My daughter bought a tv from Curry’s around 6 months ago. It is faulty, which they accept, having been shown a video of the problem.
They are saying they need to send the tv for repair which will take up to 12 weeks!!
They have not offered a refund or replacement. Surely this isn’t something they can do?

They can, but the repair shouldn't take an unreasonable amount of time. "Up to 12 weeks" is a bit vague though. Could be anything from a few days to 12 weeks. I'd be pushing them to agree that if it isn't fixed in say, six weeks, they will issue a replacement or refund.
"Around six months ago" is also a bit vague. What was the exact date she bought it and on what date did she notify Curry's of the problem?0 -
Anything over 28 days is considered unreasonable on a non essential Product like a Tv0

At less than 6 months I would press for a refund. Good luck with Currys though, they ignore any laws and prefer to keep a team of solicitors readied for your court actionIf I ruled the world.......0

O Dear why do people buy tv from Argos and Currys.0

4 weeks tops is reasonable.
As for those saying refund, they’re simply not entitled to that.0 -

She bought it just under 5 months ago (15th July) and told them about the fault at the end of November. Thanks for the advice - I think we’ll push them for a time limit on the repair. And I’ll make sure she doesn’t buy from Curry’s again!0
