Back pain after getting a new sofa?

Has anyone experienced this? I just replaced my knackered IKEA Ektorp with a fairly pricey (for me) new sofa. I tried the one in the shop and it seemed quite firm, but now that mine has arrived, I find myself really sinking into the cushions (which I don't like but am trying to get used to), and after sitting on it I am sore in my shoulders, lower back and even thighs the next morning. I don't generally suffer from aches and pains and have never experienced anything quite like this.
I'm just wondering if there is usually an adjustment period when getting a new sofa, or if I need to look at DIY options for making the cushions firmer?

Your body has to adjust to the new seating position, hence the initial back pain. It could be the it is indeed too soft for you.0

Not related to the pain side of things, but we bought a sofa which once we had it delivered was a very different experience from the one in store, including unevenness of stuffing/lack of support in various areas.
Involved a number of trips back and forth to the store to compare experience, were we imagining it etc etc
As part of our complaint, the seller (BHS) commissioned a report/visit from FIRA
His report backed up our claims, and as a result got a full refund from BHS0 -
Did you strain your back moving the sofas, though?0

We've just taken delivery of two new recliner chairs to replace our worn out 15 year old ones. Seating position seems very strange by comparison, but we are getting more used to them by the day. We also have a few aches from the changed position but nothing much.0

We experienced the opposite when changing sofas as our old ones were done.
Cushions can be offered in a variety of firmness', especially on more expensive models. Are you sure the one you ordered is the same firmness as the one you tried in store?Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
