Secondary glazing film - any good?

Has anyone tried secondary glazing film? The flat I'm currently renting has single glazed windows and gets really cold (plus it's a bit drafty), but I can't afford to have the heating on all the time. I had a look on amazon and you can get a kit for £8 which does 4 windows.
Does secondary glazing film actually work, and is it worth the money? I'd probably also need to be able to remove it when I move out, so that's another factor.

Yes it’s worth it, cuts out the drafts depending on the finish on the frames the sticky tape could be difficult to remove.0

Thanks! Does it go over just the glass part or would it go on the frames too? They're wood, if that makes any difference to removing the tapeGrocery Challenge

Not just draughts. It acts as secondatu glazing too. OK, not as good as the real thing but as a cheap alternative, yes.
You want an air gap between the window pane and the film. Maybe an inch or so. And you want it stretched tight, and sealed all round.0 -
You really want it to go over the frames and the complete window, to stop the draughts.
The stuff that shrinks with a hairdryer is the easiest. It sags over time but you can re-shrink it.
Sticky tape might be difficult to remove, but if your windows are white gloss painted it shouldn't be too difficult to touch them up before you leave.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Right, so once I've installed it properly I basically can't open that window until I remove it? Definitely something worth thinking about before I put it on then!
Yeah, they're all just white painted so shouldn't be too hard to touch up if the tape damages them at all.Grocery Challenge
