Should have gone to specsavers..... look at how many noughts I've used. Here's a hint: you'll need more than 1 hand but don't worry you won't need to take your shoes and socks off. Now go and ask a grown up the difference between 3 noughts and 6.
OK, my bad as they say. But I only needed one hand to count your noughts and it will take TfL about 18 months to amass their first £100 million according to your figures...
Did that without grown up help, but don't want to be accused of going strangely silent!

Here is my guess about the maximum fares situation
Many public transport rail networks around the world are validate on entry only.
London will be visited by a huge number of ourt of towners /foreigners to whom this is the method is the norm where they come from are totally familiar with
If they come to London and exit most places on DLR or unbarriered National rail stations or where the tube barriers are open as they quite often are now I can imagine that they may very well forget to touch out.

Yes, you make a perfectly valid point when it comes to central London/tourist hotspots. Waterloo for example rakes in over £2 million a year in maximum cash fares. The problem is that TFL has been forced to publish maximum cash fare revenue from every station on its network. Massively overwhelmingly commuter stations are generating levels of revenue which are problematic when you realise how expensive a max cash fare is and how quickly it gets very very expensive.

Hand on heart thank you for being man enough to admit your error.

2 different posts using 2 different time frames. 1 shows how much TFL is raking in on a weekly basis the other shows how much they have pocketed in total.

I have seen suggestions that the daily ridership of Tokyo Metro is getting towards double that of London Underground.
I understand the Tokyo companies make a profit

Nope, ridership of Tokyo metro is 7.2 million per day. London is a touch over 5.5 million which doesn't even get it into the top 10 busiest metros in the world. So Tokyo is 40% busier yet 500% cheaper. Go figure!

Yes, Tokyo metro makes a profit by that are insinuating that TFL doesn't? Because if you are then TFL don't make a profit in the same way that Amazon don't make a profit.

There is a lot wrong with TFL, but their contactless payment options are world class.

TFL is making £100's millions from "incomplete" journey. By giving them direct access to your bank account your left at the mercy of TFL for a refund. I've posted about this before and when presented with the evidence people have become strangely silent.

If you absolutely must use contactless I very strongly suggest you use AndroidPay or similar which gives gate receipts. As I said "incomplete" journeys are hugely profitable for TFL.

I've travelled all over the world using the public transport systems of just about every world city on the planet and hand on heart London is by far the most confusing, broken and extortionately expensive I've had the displeasure of using.
You simply have a gripe with TfL.

I have never, EVER, had a problem getting a refund on an incomplete journey. And 99% of those incomplete journeys were my fault for not touching out, so they could have argued it was my fault.

And it's happened hundreds of times in the last 10-15 years. So I simply don't believe you. I think you have a vendetta at play here.

Not sure why anyone still uses an Oyster Card for pay as you go, when you can enjoy the same fares (and capping) with most credit cards. ....
Agreed except if you hold a Railcard.

Oddly the thing that brought the subject up was he'd forgotten his travelcard when stopped by ticket inspectors. They gave him 10 days to present it at which point he had to pay a £3.50 admin(??) fee. With TFL it's an £80 fine/prosecution criminal record.
This does not appear to be correct; if you forget your Travelcard Season ticket you can be refunded.

As for the Zurich v London price comparison, I'm not sure it's quite as simple as you claim either; are you able to produce your methodology?

I think I'll take anything you say with a pinch of salt, as previous claims by yourself have also been proven to be unfounded.
