Reverse light wire

Hi all I'm trying to fit a rear dash cam but I can't identify the reverse light wire. I have a citroen c3 selection 2015. What color is it.
Thank you

What I've done in the past is to remove the light cluster and then with the ignition on put the car into reverse to illuminate the light. Then use a meter on the adjacent plug to determine the connection that has +12V present.

Do you only want the camera on when you go backwards?

It's the one that's live when the car's in reverse with the ignition on.

If that doesn't make sense, get somebody else to fit it, please...

Modern car electrics are computerised, and getting it wrong could in an extreme case fry the body computer.

Suggest the OP gets in fitted by a pro, you shoul'nt be hooking up the dash cam to a lighting circuit!

If it has a reverse-light feed, then it'll be for triggering it when reverse is selected, as a reversing cam rather than a dashcam.
  • We have a Renault Kangoo - there was a short spare wire coming out of the rear of the reversing light in the rear cluster - it had a cut in it where the insulation was partially separated which suggested to us that it was for using for a reversing light. It was and it worked.

I assume this is a common arrangement as lots of cars have reversing sensors/cameras as an optional extra - so they make it easy to find a connection.
