MBNA issues *changing their application offer with 1 month's notice*

Hi all,

Back in July I applied for a credit card at 0% interest on purchases over 15 months with MBNA which I found via the Experian Credit Club portal.

Things had been good.. until a letter dated early November showed up whilst I was abroad, which stated the following:

The card I had opened included the following offer of 0% for up to 15 months on card puchases you make in the first 60 days of account opening. *immediately alarm bells start ringing as I had had the card open since July and besides that whole 60 days thing wasn't the offer I had agreed to?!*

Some information was missing from part of my "Credit Card Application Journey" *!!!!!!?!*

Although everything was right in my credit card agreement, it was not clear on some of the earlier advertising that my purchase offer was only available on spending made in the first 60 days of account opening. *oh.. well how convenient!*

MBNA "appreciated" this might have been confusing so they were to honour the 0% offer for 15 months on any purchases already made including a further 30 days from the date of this letter. *how generous of them*

If I've incurred interest on purchases prior to the date of this letter, MBNA will ensure the interest is refunded and that I will benefit from my full promotional period for those transactions. *I do not feel like there is any benefit recommending MBNA that's for sure!*

Quite frankly I feel jibbed here by MBNA and I want to be able to do something about this as they should be honouring the terms, conditions and offers I willingly agreed to as they had offered them!

The letter is a slap in the face, as if to almost make out like the consumer is at fault and should be made to feel responsible in some way!

Anybody else receive one of these?

Yes, they will have, as it'll be a generic process issue.

They don't appear to be making out that you're at fault, but rather that they could have been clearer, so are ensuring that you're not out of pocket.

Obviously if you had further 0% spending planned, you'll need another card for that.
