What you have possibly missed is the labour is the same cost whatever one you fit the only difference is the price of the immersion, I've already said titanium will last longer but I agree with others that you can't tell the fault without testing the stat & element with a multimeterI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Time taken will depend on how easy it is to drain or lower the water in the tank.
One tip for anyone doing this is to leave the tank full, put old towels etc. round it and "crack" the immersion heater seal by turning it anticlockwise a tiny bit, then drain, remove and replace the heater.
I still have my old spanners for this, open end and a socket! Don't know when I will use them again.0 -

Does that help to avoid the relatively weak copper wall of the cylinder from distorting?A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -
Thank you everyone :T
I now have a list of things to ask when they ring me tomorrow...
I’ve decided that if it does need a new element I will opt for the titanium one - hopefully this will last longer and, as the majority of the cost is the installation charge, thereby extend the period before I have to pay for another new one to be fitted2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
