Simba duvets and pillows - any thoughts?

I've been a fan of Simba mattresses for a few years now.

In the black friday sale I got a king size mattress, duvet, two pillows and a mattress protector for £720, which is less than the regular price of the mattress alone. The full price of all those items is an eye-watering £1191.

Does anyone have any experience of the pillows and duvet though? The duvet is supposedly made of some space age fabric that keeps you cool if you are hot and warm if you are cold. It has to be a certain way up so the fabric can 'wick' moisture away from you.

The website says you can, and should use a duvet cover. How can the 'wicking' facility still work if you use a cover?

Do I need to use a duvet cover?
For hygiene reasons we do recommend using a duvet cover, these will also ensure they'll stay as pristine as the day they arrived. Any standard size in whatever snazzy colour and style you have already will fit just fine. You'll still get the benefits of the temperature regulating Stratos with a cover.

Which way up do I use the Hybrid Duvet?
That's up to how you feel. There might be times you just want a snuggle with just cotton. But to get the benefit of temperature-regulating Stratos® you should keep that side nearest to your body - it's the one indicated by the blue piping (and it's also cotton).

You can of course still use a duvet cover and we've even included 'top' and 'tail' tags to make changing the cover easy.

I dont know about simbas in any detail, it seems very pricey. I bought a wool duvet which definitely has wicking either way round. Just under a hundred quid.
    Bought from https://www.baavet.co.uk/baavet-wool-bargains
    Other suppliers are available.

You can also pay full price for a perfect quilt. Mine has (apparently) lumps and a wonky seam. I have hunted all over for these minor faults and cant find them.
Pillows I generally change yearly or after a hot flush. I go to julian Charles, usually bought on sale. I tried all kinds since the menopause started, the standard pillow is the most money saving for me.
    63 mortgage payments to go.

    Zero wins 2016 😥
