Faulty iPad on O2 contract

Hi,
I bought an iPad from O2 on a 24 month contract in April 2018 which has developed a faulty screen. Apple have inspected it and agree it's faulty and there is no damage that I have caused.
I contacted O2 and sent it off for them to repair/replace and they have come back and said that as it's out of warranty that I need to pay £530 to have it repaired!
I'm arguing that under consumer rights it should be fit for purpose and that a device on a 2 year contract should last at least 2 years.
Has anyone here had a similar experience with O2? Any advice?

Provided that you can prove that the item is faulty, and the fault wasn't caused by you, then O2 are obliged to provide a remedy ... repair, replace or refund. (Consumer Rights Act 2015). Apple's statement (you have this in writing?) would be deemed as such proof.
Any refund (assuming they went this route) would be reduced to account for your time of ownership. How much are you paying per month on the contract? (e.g. O2 may try to argue that what you've paid so far versus the total contract value would be sufficient refund - i.e. cancelling the contract).0 -
I’m paying £50 a month. Emailed their “Resolution Experts” requesting a repair or replacement under consumer rights. Will see what they say.0

£1,200 over 2 years? Which Ipad is it? What plan do you have? Unlimited data?
You've now paid 19 or 20 months of the contract ... £950 to £1,000, leaving at most £250 still to pay. Is your Ipad still worth more than £250 second hand?0 -
It’s an iPad Pro 12.9 256GB. So about £1200 new, add on the data for 2 years and £50 a month is not bad really.
Should still be worth a decent amount0
