So a standard parcel then- and that message means it hasn't arrived as it only updates when delivered.

Of course the other possibility is the parcel has been delivered and the postie didn't bother to scan. Not that this is of any help to the OP.

Incidentally, the reason I ask buyers about their address is threefold:
    1) it looks as though you are doing something and are sympathetic
    2) it gives you a bit of breathing space
    3) occasionally a buyer will shoot themselves in the foot by replying - via the case- that their address is wrong and you need to retrieve it or refund. If you ever do get a buyer confirm their address is wrong then just phone ebay and get the case closed in your favour.

To be honest, that's precisely what I believe has happened given how aggressive her opening message was. Smacks of classic scam to me.
  • Thanks Soolin. Yes, it was second class standard as it was sub £20. I'm working all weekend anyway so won't have time to do much until Monday although I'm currently on hold to try and speak to an operator at RM (Again, thanks Soolin!)

If the tracking hasn't updated then you are pretty much wasting time speaking to RM.
  • Here is an extract from the email I received from RM. I've put the confusing bit in bold. The item was sent as a 2nd class parcel (Standard) but they usually DO track all the way.

    Thank you for your email.

I’m sorry the Signed For item, with reference number xxxxxxx you posted hasn’t been received and can fully understand your concerns.

Every item of mail is important to us and we typically pride ourselves on high levels of service, so I’m very sorry we appear to have let you down on this occasion.

Standard First and Second class items aren’t tracked through our network, so unfortunately I can’t say why it’s delayed - but there’s still time for your item to be delivered.

Sorry but you need to clarify, was this a standard parcel or a signed for parcel, that looks like a generic response from RM to cover both possibilities.

Signed for shows as accepted at PO or mail centre when dropped off and then doesn't usually track again until delivered. a standard parcel only ever shows as delivered with no updates prior to that.

If this still doesn't show as delivered then you will need to watch your dates as you don't want buyer to escalate this and get a refund forced on you as then you lose your FVFs and get a strike.

It is too early yet to start a claim from RM

This is what a standard parcel shows when I put the parcel number into RM track and trace, I sent this yesterday

An update will only be provided when we attempt to deliver your item

That will not update until it is delivered.

Just to add to the confusion. You can get tracking updates with standard parcels in RMs network but it wont show on the customer site and depends on what mail centre the items travel through on their journey.
At most its a scan at a mail centre though and not full tracking
