My daughter wants some paid-for advice on SDLT. Her position is rather unusual and complex. Can anyone suggest a solicitor who is fairly expert in this area, please?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Surely an accountant would be better placed to advise than a solicitorI'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Any decent conveyancing solicitor will be familiar with the SDLT rules.0

If it relates to a transaction she's contemplating, it would make sense to get advice from the same firm she'll be using for that. As above, any decent conveyancing solicitor has to get to grips with SDLT complications, so unless it's something spectacularly esoteric (or particularly high value) she's not going to need some tax specialist.
If you gave us an idea of what the issue is we could probably help more.0 -
I agree that one possibility is to ask the conveyancing solicitor. She did ask him, but we are not sure he's right! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Perhaps OP would like to put the question up and we will see if between us we can help.
Often it is best to use a conveyancing firm with in-house SDLT expertise.0 -

I would ask the question here, sdlt geek is very knowledgable..
Im sure its likely people will know the answer you can then check with HMRC. I have had complex issues and although they cant give advice they can confirm or not if something is correct and they are very good..
You could also try your local citizens advice, they often have experts in certain fields that may be able to help, saves spending out unless u really need to..0
