One of the main reasons I'm sticking with First Direct over other banks is because of their £250 interest free buffer., to which they have stated they are keeping. Not that I find myself in my overdraft often but it does put my mind at ease knowing it's there.

    . . . Also remember it is a max charge of £20 a month. . .
The £20 cap applies only to unauthorised overdrafts and is on top of the 40% interest payable on the authorised overdraft.

It seems to me that some people are heading for a severe shock in April.

On the bright side, Lloyds Group customers (Lloyds, Halifax Bank of Scotland) are going to be quite pleased; their present tiered overdraft rates are 83% on the first £1,250, 68% on the next £1,250 and 58% on the rest.
