a few days ago I had a power failure , when power came back my nuc was broken , nuc 513 , 6+ yrs old , running hot (on 24/7)
sits there with blue light , orange disk light and fan on , no vid output
read the internet stripped down and cleaned fan (it was badly blocked)
was then working and running lot cooler
this morning we have flashing lights and no play

I have read that article , and actually found a dell one that is compatible , but no boot message to say flat battery
now booting , but struggles0 -
as an update to this , tried a replacement battery - intel do not actually list or sell one , so i got compaq/dell one that was listed on ebay as sutable for the nuc
no difference , however i found some documentation on intels website showing colour pics , the micro molex plug on the intel one is reversed !
second replacemnt fitted today with lead cut , reversed nd resolderd , the nuc now works and its alzeimers has now gone
it now has a rtc and bios memory0 -
I love those Intel NUCs. If you're just wanting a desktop for web, office etc they're a great solution without having to have a tower case and you can get brackets to attach them to the back of a monitor. They've just brought out a gaming one now but it's a fair old size.

i now own the 513 , and i have just bought a 515 , as you say good , i say bloody brilliant , had the 513 for 6 yrs , on 24/7 was dust that killed it , but in now lives on
my 515 now has 16g sodimm , a 128g m.2 card and a 256g ssd for backup
vesa bkts come in the box , 2 min job to mount to a monitor and use short mini display or hdmi lead , and cordless keyboard and mouse0 -
I bought a refurbished 5i5 with a 256 SSD and 16 GB of memory. It runs Paintshop Pro, CorelDraw and a few other similar programs without difficulty. Also installed are Libre Office and the games I like to play (hidden object, jig-saws). It probably has its limits but I haven't come across anything yet that has made it struggle. It runs almost silently too.Error! - Keyboard not attached. Press any key to continue.0
