Any one got any recommendations for a reasonable priced OBD Code reader?
Car threw up an engine management light last week. It's in the garage to be sorted but would like s reader incase it happens again.
TIA.

Exactly this - I got torque pro and a bluetooth elm327 for about £10 in total! wont ready ABS etc, but will pick up main engine issues0 -
Depends what you want to do not all will read all the codes even at £150.
Check each one what it does there may be things you need to check ie some may only cover engine or just a few ECU's.
Have ELM327 and Torque on an Android, but always iffy to connect plus it doesnt do a vast lot.
VAG cars highly recommend VAGCOM even tells of a wing mirror switch has gone plus can talk you through for self checking. Not to be confused with a full auto scanning check.
If you own a BMW never leave home without an Android and Carly. Best is BMW DIS about £30.0 -
Also a lot depends on the car you have.Life in the slow lane0

Two Fords and a Lexus.0 -
I got one off Amazon, & my mechanic pleaded with me not to use it but rather trust his device which was much more sophisticated & had Ford nuances loaded.
Largely as I couldn't tell the difference between a "safe to drive still" & "frankly better by RAC" issue & thus scared him rigid. If you can get one that is seriously worth having and enables you to correctly discriminate between "it'll cope" and "phone for help", brilliant but reasonably priced might be several hundred quid.

You can get a basic reader for less than £10. With two Fords, and if you are interested and want more coverage, buy an adapter that supports the Forscan program. You can do just about everything with that given some learning; there are plenty of Forums/websites devoted to it.0 -
Another +1 for the ELM cable and Forscan for the Fords.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
