Hi guys as you were so helpful with an ancient laptop which now runs dvd's excellently with great sound and a huge picture (for a laptop)!! wondered if you could help with another query please?
A computer won't delete cookies on exit using newish google chrome.
I've tried going to settings but can no longer find the option to delete cookies automatically. Any ideas??? Thanks anyway!
It was easier on the older version of chrome wish hadn't updated it now!

Why do you want to do this?
If you use Firefox you can set it to do this automatically. Why not use Firefox?0 -
This issue was long standing in Chrome, but was fixed after version 73.
However if I remember correctly your laptop mentioned was running Windows XP which hasn't supported Chrome since version 49.0 -
hi this is another computer which I have no control over the programs but need to stop it saving cookies!
I have tried: Site settings
permissions
cookies keep local data only until you quit.

//settings/content/cookies will do the trick on every chrome based browser, i.e.Opera as well.

Why do you need to delete cookies? Tiny files that take up barely any space. Helps some sites direct you to the pages that you want to view rather than a landing page.
Remembers login information etc.

After 20 and three quarter years of being on the internet and various web forums past and present, one of the key things I've learnt on advice driven boards like these is just not to ask the reasons why. Just tell them what they want to know and await the follow up post later of "why this website doesn't auto log me in anymore!".
