Poor after sales / complaints service at rentalcars.com >>
Rented a car via rentalcars.com, Recordgo in Malaga made unauthorised charges to my credit card.
Difficult to make a complaint. Took a long time to answer the phone and I had to repeat details during two phone calls. Refused to supply me an e mail address. Very irritating when they sent me an e mail from their e mail address which does not accept a reply.
Fuel charge deposit on pick up £84.61
Refund on drop off £75.58 - nice little earned them
Excess kilometers charge £81.53 - I did not exceed daily mileage allowance and have photos to prove, but can't e mail to Rentalcars.com.

Raise a chargeback claim with your CC provider?
The fuel charge discrepancy may well have been exchange rates ... either due to daily differences, and/or because they used the Euro sell rate for the deposit and the Euro buy rate for the return.0 -

Not sure - I might have the sell and buy the wrong way round. But at least you knew what I meant.0

Yes, I had spotted that, none of us are perfect.
Rentals cars have responded with this BS>Record have responded to me regarding the fuel refund and the kilometres.
I have attached 3 documents:
1. 728874258.pdf
This is your signed rental agreement which shows the kilometres when you received the car as 21635km, and it shows the fuel charge (€87.62) which was signed and accepted.
2. 728874258_fuel refund.pdf
The receipt shows a refund of the same amount for the fuel of €87.62. The difference when it reached your account may be related to the exchange rate.
3. 728874258_extra km.PNG
This is the Final Invoice showing the rental details and final cost. I have highlighted the Kilometres, when you collected the car on 08/10/2019 the Kilometres were 21635km and on the return on 15/10/2019 the car had 22802km. Which is a difference of 1167km.
Your rental included 120km per day, giving you 960km for your full rental of 8 days.
As per the documents it shows you had gone over the allowance of 960km by 207km. And for this reason Record had charged you €0.45 for each km over the allowance (207 x 0.45 = 93.15) which was €93.15.
It would appear they have scammed me by charging in pounds @ rate to buy and refunding @ rate to sell euros.
There is no way I travelled 1167km. It appears there is an "error" on the starting mileage. I did take photo to verify mileage and on return Unfortunately, I did not keep copies of documents I signed or take a photograph of the mileage when I collected the car.

It appears this is exactly what they have done.
( of course if they were playing the DCC game this might be different but it seems they claim not although you say they did)
Did they charge your card in GBP or Euros?
Never allow DCC is my advice as you will lose
Surely the exchange rates are managed by your bank and are nothing to do with the rental company
The last time a hotel in USA did this to me on a room I legitimately cancelled I moaned to the bank who kindly agreed to credit the difference but actual credited the whole lot which was even kinder of them0 -
