Hassle with Hermes!

It seems that almost every online order is delivered to me - or not - by Hermes. A whole range of retailers are using them but 9 times out of 10 the stuff doesn’t arrive. It is marked as delivered with a fake signature and never shows, or sometimes appears at random a few days later. SO frustrating and the number of occurrences (about 15 for me now) is starting to put me off shopping online. Especially when paying for 24 hr delivery because I want/need something urgently! Their customer services dept is also non-existent. How do they get away with it?!

9 times out of 10? Really? I've both received and sent items using Hermes for years and never had a problem. I love Hermes, as far as I am concerned they are cheap and reliable, oh, and my local Hermes driver is lovely.

And that folks is the crux of the problem. We also have good Hermes drivers in out town, and one of them contributes to the town's Facebook page to give a general update if/when problems arise. But if your driver is as much use as a chocolate fireguard then such is your luck.

  • Hermes is no different to Yodel, Royal Mail, Currys, John Lewis etc in that the customer facing employees can make an enormous difference as to the quality of service that you receive.

    Stop complaining to Hermes...

Complain to the retailer you bought from. They are the one with the contract with Hermes. They are the one's that can change couriers.

I've found it really does depend on your local driver, the old one in my area was a nightmare, stuff not arriving on the right day, being left in unsafe places (when there are perfectly safe places they could be left if needed), claiming items delivered but not etc. My current driver is fantastic, he's got to know the regulars on the route, knows where safe places are, knows which neighbours to leave things with, goes out of his way to be helpful and not had a single delivery issue with him in the 18 months he's been doing it.

Whoever covers his very rare days/weeks off is not quite as bad as the original driver but also not a patch on our regular guy.

Judging by posts on my town's local Facebook group there seem to be a mix of good and bad drivers, some get nothing but praise and others get nothing but complaints.
