Young car insurance help

I'm quite new to the driving scene, I have taken driving lessons and got plenty of experience behind the wheel due to my motability car, I have recently had that removed as my pip ran out. I'm 18 and just bought myself a new car which cost me my motorcycle, my step dad drives and is happy to drive me wherever I need to go but I'd like to be more independent so I'm trying to get insurance on my new car.
The cheapest I have been able to find had a massive £4950 premium now I know that it's not normal for a 18 year old to drive a BMW 530D 3.0L but it wasn't just for me, it was mainly for my family and my dogs hence the tow bar and massive boot space. Now I'm wondering if there is any point in me trying to drive the car or weather I should just wait and get something cheap to run around on instead, any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

You would have been better to phone a good broker and ask them what kind of large cars are cheaper to insure.
As a learner driver, the premiums will be high.
You probably could have purchased a Skoda fabia estate and found your premiums lower.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
I could have indeed but I was mainly thinking that my insurance wouldn't be high because my past driving history. I was wrong.0

insurers generally count age and no claims bonus as the main driving factor behind lower premiums, not how many years driving/ learning"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Just to check - it that the premium whilst you're a learner?
It's likely to go up a lot when you pass your test.
Insurance companies tend to assume that young drivers will drive more sensibly whilst they are learning with an experienced driver sitting next to them. But once they pass their test, and don't have anyone watching over them, they might be a bit less sensible.0 -
£4950 is a very reasonable price for a 530D at 18.. I'm 19 and have looked at 100's of car quotes for different cars.
The car has a highish value
Very high litre for your age
It's a BMW.. high insurance manufacturer
I believe the insurance group for a 530D is group 41/50 (50 being highest..)
You have 0 years no claims
Those are all reasons it's going to be high.
Not quite sure why you bought that car at your age unless I'm missing something?
Always check the insurance first before buying a car, especially at your age.
Looks like you'll have to find something smaller, cheaper and lower power.0
