Motability car through PIP query

I have been awarded enhanced mobility from PIP and I am looking at getting a motability car soon. I have seen some that cost under my weekly mobility payment, some that are bang on the same amount as my payment and then some that say total allowance. Does the total allowance mean that it would cost my entire PIP award (both my enhanced daily living and mobility) or just the entire enhanced mobility award?
I am new to PIP so I am just a little unsure about this. Thanks.

Yes, if you go for a car that says Total Allowance it will cost all of your award, which is the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), currently £61.20 a week. The money is paid directly to Motability every 4 weeks to pay for the lease of the vehicle. If you choose a Motability cars that costs less than the Total Allowance amount, then the remainder of the money would be paid directly to you.0

Why pay full price and suffer the depreciation/cost? Get a used one tomorrow.
Where 2 - 3 year old Motability cars end up.

Why buy a car which you'll have to maintain, tax & insure when you can rent one for 3 years from motability and just put fuel in it? It was a no-brainer for my wife.
We each make our own economic decisions, and the comment was aimed at being able to have a car and some surplus cash. The comment about lack of credit is noted.
But as you say, a fully expensed new car paid out of benefits is a no-brainer.Unlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.

Is the insurance paid for as well? It almost sounds too good to be true!
(Genuinely asking, I haven't applied for PIP yet but expect I will qualify for enhanced mobility - though fully aware I may have to fight for it.)0 -
