Barclays insurance cashback offer

Just renewed my home contents insurance with Barclays and they offered me a £60 cashback by buying through moneysupermarket.com (or £50 through confused.com). With this cashback it saved me about £40 over my renewal quote from the AA, for slightly improved cover!

Generally I'm not a fan of buying insurance through High Street banks as I don't think they offer a very good deal. You're fortunate to have saved some money, but you may well find that when your next renewal date comes up, you won't be getting such a good deal. I suggest you flag your next renewal date about a month in advance in your diary and at that time start checking alternative quotes, as I very much suspect that once Barclays have got you hooked, they will rely on your inertia and rocket up your premium.0

I always shop around as soon as my renewal notice comes through, so I won't get caught out by that anyway. I normally only find that "specialist" insurance companies (ie not banks) come out on top, so I was a little surprised when Barclays won out for me, but with a little bit of extra cover for half the price I was quoted, it was too good to turn down!0

This is mcuh the same for any insurer - get you in then bumpt up the premium on renewal. However, as most people on MSE will shop around each year (particularly when you can also get cashback from most suppliers now through Quidco or TCB etc) then it shouldn't be an issue.

I went with Barclays last year to get £100 back through Quidco and this year I got a letter a month before it was due to expire saying that the renewal will cost 'xyz' and that they will automatically renew it unless I contact them. I did contact them and the guy on the other end was actually very understanding when I told him that I won't renew it because new customers get a better deal (I mentioned Quidco and online discounts).0

since july

I payed for my Barclays car insurance online, and it said that I would get £50 cashback within 60 days. I am still within that time, but I was just wondering how they give you the cashback? I really can't see them spontaneously sending me 50 quid through the post!!
Any feedback appreciated!
