Hey MSEs, just trying to see if the following quote is reasonable / not too far off.
It's for an entirely new gas central heating system, some work mostly redoing things in kitchen, installing new stuff in bathroom, and painting every room. Sorry there's no itemised breakdown, but images can be seen @ https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-72211265.html
- Remove 5 storage heaters / water cylinder from the premises & cart away off site.
- Provide a full gas installation including combi boiler, 5 radiators, valves & pipework (likely run through attic and down through ceilings).
- Provide new gas feed from meter to new boiler.
- Supply & fit new toilet/cistern, plus new wash hand basin with taps.- Remove old shower unit & supply & fit new thermostatic shower valve complete.
- Provide extractor fan through existing vent.
- Tile wall up to height of window cill, & grout over.
- Strip & adjust existing kitchen units to new layout.- Provide new standard worktops, cut & secure in place.
- Supply new extractor fan, re-circulating.
- Adjust electrics for new kitchen layout.
- New tiling above worktops & grout over.
- Seal around all upvc windows.
- Fit 4 new battens + curtain rails.- Provide new locks & handles to 3 doors.
- Apply 1 full coat of emulsion to all walls in flat.
Total £12,782.00 ex / £15,338.40 inc.
Thanks :beer::j

With such limited information it's impossible to say whether the estimate is reasonable or not. For example - strip and adjust kitchen units to new layout..... adjust electrics. Vague doesn't come close. It could be anything from a couple of days to a week or more labour.0

I think it could be anything from 10K to 20K. By buying the supplies and equipment yourself you might be able to save money, as you can look for cheaper items where it doesn't matter, and splash out where it's important to you, whereas the builder would just buy whatever from their usual supplier and recharge it to you (maybe trying to make a further profit)
I bought £5000 of Amazon gift cards from Morrisons and using the recent Amex offer this only cost £4500, then I bought most of the goods from Amazon. My builder estimated about £5500 for the same goods, and he wouldn't have bought the stuff I wanted just some generic brands.0
