I take your point but if they were responsible for losses even if you didn't take insurance out they'd all put their prices up to include it. Therefore you'd be paying the insurance cost anyway, as would people who didn't want it before.

At least this way you get a choice. You made that choice and it didn't work out for you.

They keep saying loses are rare, so it shouldn't cost them much to payout for internal mishaps. Instead they push insurance as a way of making extra money, and is a ridiculous concept itself as is sold to protect you from their service.

So you keep saying. What are you going to do about it? It seems to me that you either find a better quality courier, probably costing more, or you scratch around for the cheapest prices where the company pays people a pittance to work all day to unrealistic delivery schedules and where they can make some margin on their insurance products.

Your choice. And you do have a choice.

It's the same across the whole industry so making a point about how the low-end works isn't relevant.
  • No one's going to give you the answer you want and I'm not sure what you want anyway. It was your choice to do it on the cheap (twice) and not pay for insurance and it's backfired (twice). If you think the whole industry is crooked and that their insurance is "mathia-esk", don't use them.

It was for debate and to find a way to claim outside of the illogical insurance system.

Imagine I didn't mention a low-end courier and instead think of an extremely expensive one instead. It doesn't make a difference when engaging with the points.

There's a specific board for that, this one isn't it.

It's not the same across the industry.
If I wanted to send a 1KG small parcel in the UK, I could send it via Royal Mail 2nd class for £2.90 and there would be compensation for up to £20.

If however I wanted more cover, I could opt for a different delivery service such as signed for (up to £50) or Special Delivery (£500) but obviously these services would be more expensive.
If there was the same insurance cover provided for all the delivery services, the price of the cheapest ones would increase so the people sending cheap items that didn't want or need the higher cover would be subsidising those that did.

You chose the cheapest possible delivery service, one that you were fully aware of didn't include insurance and now you are upset because your decision to save a couple of £s has come back to bite you on the ****.

There shouldn't be outside fees for internal responsibilities across the industry. They all say lost items are rare anyway so shouldn't cost them hardly anything unless it's a lie.

OK, I'll look for that. Thanks.
