According to the updated Highway code you're not allowed to park on double yellow lines at any time & it doesn't matter if it's a private road or public highway, the highway code still applies.Winnings

Scaper the Highway code doesn't make a distinction between public & private roads, it's a road with double yellow lines.Winnings

At the end of the day a road is a road & whether it's owned by a private company or a public road the highway code still applies.Winnings

And also once you're on private land the highway code doesn't apply. E.g. you can drink drive, be underage, don't need a licence etc. The "rules of the road" are just whatever the landowner wants them to be.
Wrong, http://www.opsi.gov.uk/ACTS/acts1988/ukpga_19880052_en_2
4 Driving, or being in charge, when under influence of drink or drugs
(1) A person who, when driving or attempting to drive a motor vehicle on a road or other public place, is unfit to drive through drink or drugs is guilty of an offence.
A public place can include a pub/supermarket car park during opening hours even though the land is classed as private. Hope too many people don't follow your advice or they could end up in serious doo doo:doh::doh: :doh:0 -

You're right, I should have been more specific, any private land that is not accessible to the public.
I was thinking more along the lines of a private land that isn't a car park etc. Friends of mine that drove underage completely legally etc because it was within their own land."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

If a private road has not been dedicated as a highway then the Highway Code does not apply. However some private land where there are no barriers to entry can be classified as a public place where certain offences apply eg driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs, dangerous driving etc0 -
Would barriers to entry also include signs saying dont park here then?0
