Argos return - what are my rights? Consumer Rights Act

A laptop developed a hardware fault after 15 months, we got a letter from an engineer to confirm this. It was not software.
Argos say they will issue us with a partial refund, but I understood they should give us a refund or repair. We want a repair.
Are they within their rights?
We are miffed at having to lose money on a laptop that broke after 15 months, and would like it fixed.
Thank yuo

Yes.....their choice as to remedy.0

Yes, they can choose. Given how quickly hardware becomes obsolete I suspect you're better off with a partial refund which you can put towards a new laptop.0
