additional cost of bullnose carpet installation

Hi,

I'm soon going to be getting my house re-carpeted, and would like the have the stairs done with an upholstered bullnose finish, as opposed to the standard waterfall.

Has anyone any idea how much extra the fitting would typically cost above the standard fitting? 30%, 50%, 100% more?

I'm a floorlayer by trade and i charge a surcharge for fitting stairs. This is the same for traditional waterfall fit or "hollywood" / upholstered install. I only charge more for open plan stairs and open spiral stairs. Pop into a few independent shops and ask them to give you quotes with the installation mathod you want in writing. In all honesty it doesn't make alot of difference to the length of time to install the carpet but it does use alot more fixings. If you have a beading fitted underneath the lip of each tred then fitting the carpet hollywood style looks horid as you can't hide the fixings in the gap underneath. Hope you find someone to do it as you want but you'll find carpet right fitters won't install in that method as they don't get any surcharges.
