Only in relation to matters personal to their own behaviour etc, it doesn't mean the SRA will look generally at the services provided by organisations which happen to employ solicitors.
The relevant solicitor assisting remains liable. If there is a solicitor involved in the OP's matter this is likely to be enough to shock them into some action. They will look at failings to meet the relevant standards. One of those standards is acting in the best interests of your client and providing a service in a competent and timely manner. Its there in black and white. It came into force on 25 November 2019. It applies here.0 -
Same conveyancers who (no joke) forgot to send the funds to complete my house purchase on completion day.0

The buyer of our flat used them...... OMG! awful.0

I used them and had no problems. Put an offer on a house in September and completed last week with no issues!0

I'm using them as we speak. No issues here (yet)0

I would suggest
Cheap will rarely equal either good or fast. Although it depends on the definition of good. I class good as responsive, accurate, detailed , available which would give them a high probability of being fast I.e action things the same day and ensuring a clean title.
Potentially cheap could equal slow you are in a queue but be good , if good is defined as legally ensuring you have legal title but not necessarily quickly.
I would pick good and fast from the list and be prepared to pay a premium to ensure personalised service,0 -
I used MyHomeMove (Part of PPL Group) and I found them to be great.
Conveyancer picks up in a few rings generally and quick on the emails.0 -

Which is clearly a logical approach, especially when dealing with the largest financial transaction that many people will make in their lives.
However when you then pivot that point, and consider how many people see the overall expense of what they are going through, often stretching themselves considerably in the process (rightly or wrongly), you also see why they are looking to go cheap in areas where they think it's safe to do so.
And we're by nature a trusting species, so when your EA says they can get you a good deal on conveyancing, solicitors, financing, yada yada... you can see why some people will believe that cheap could also be fast and good...0 -
