Kia Sorento, Keyless or standard key?

Having owned my first keyless car after years of "normal" ones i'd go back to key in an instant, can't see any advantage at all and no i dont worry about these so called thefts.
Interesting how people's views can be so different. I've owned keyless cars for about 10yrs and simply wouldn't go back to keys.
I looked at a Cayenne last year and, as fickle as it sounds, it was the lack of keyless that meant I didn't order one.0 -
My keys stay on a clip on the belt loop on my jeans. CX5 won't lock with the key in the car and will beep at me to let me know they are inside the car. My car is kept off road behind electric security gates. Though some !!!!! did steal the motor to those once.0

I now know everything I ever want to know about you.
You should be drivng a CX, not a CX5.0 -

So you can't add a extra benefit that keyless cars have then...:rotfl:

That's ok. Apology accepted.0 -
Good cars. I'm very happy with mine.
Mine's a KX-3 and not had any problems. You could always put the key in a faraday pouch if you're in a high crime area.
2015-2017 kx-1 and kx-2 don't offer android auto/apple car play. kx-3 and kx-4 do as long as they've had the 2017 software/map update.
From the mild facelift in 2018, I believe all models have AA/ACP.
A map update comes out each year. The dealers only charge £25 (incl VAT) for the update.
The spare wheel is underneath, and can be stolen - it's lowered on a cable, and the cable can be cut. Kia sell a security kit which bolts on and covers the cable. The spare is a full-size alloy with the same tyre as the roadwheels - that's why it's valuable. But great for people like me who tow regularly.
Some dealers are excellent. Some are very poor. There's a decent owners forum with garage reviews which might help.
Make absolutely sure that the car you're buying has had it's annual service. If the services are from a non-kia garage, you also need proof of it being Kia filters and the right spec oil. Or you may have trouble claiming on the 7-year/100,000 mile warranty.
The only real weak point on these cars is the clutch. I'd recommend buying an auto. It's a traditional torque converter 6-speed box on the 2015-2017 cars. The later cars get a new 8-speed unit - but I wouldn't pay extra for one with the 8-speed as its so new it has yet to prove itself in the real world.
Thank you for your detailed explantion.
I went to a Kia dealer to test drive a used an automatic Kia Sorento KX-3, 2015. When I tried to shift the gear lever from Parking to Drive I couldn’t, it just would move. The sales person tried as well and couldn’t. Then a mechanic came and opened a little flap that covered a tiny hole next to the gear lever. He pushed a screwdriver through the hole and released the gear lever. He advised that I can test drive the vehicle but should not put it back to Parking but leave it in Neutral. He said the problem would be rectified before the car is sold to me. I did drive the car after that and didn’t detect anything untoward with the gears but am very concerned. Would this indicate a serious fault with the gear box or is it likely to be something minor like a faulty sensor? Other than that, the car is nice and priced low. It’s done around 30 000miles.
The sales person stressed that any mechanical issue with the gear box would still be covered by the balance of the 7-year Kia warranty.0 -
Sounds like a simple electrical issue with a safety interlock that's intended to stop you putting it into/out of P when it's inappropriate - probably foot on the brake.0

Perhaps you'd like to explain what you mean. A few wines with a colleague has dulled my senses0 -
Pedant alert.......there's no such thing as a keyless car, the fob still has a key in case the battery goes flat.0

I know I'd far rather have another than a Mazda softroader. But I can see how there might be fairly easy arguments against.0
