Claim after switching insurer

Hi,
So in early March this year, I had an accident with a gas pipe and had to get it fixed. Towards the end of March my insurance policy ended and I switched insurer.
9 months later !!! I get a bill for £640 that is due by the 18th of December (delivered on the 30th of November).
The letter says to contact my insurer.
I'm not very happy with the delay at all - Especially just before Christmas but I guess there is nothing I can do about that...
My question is, do I contact my current insurer or my previous insurer?

Your previous insurer - the one that covered you at the time of the incident.0

It looks like my excess is £300 even if I am covered would it still be worth making a claim?0
-
I'm assuming you already reported it/opened it as a claim with your insurer at the time.
What is the status of the claim?0 -
I'm not sure that I did report it at the time - I was waiting for the invoice but it only just arrived.0

They won't be interested in it, in that case.
Just pay it yourself.0
