Argos reviews manipulated

Hi,

I bought this Darla bed from Argos
(Can't post a link as am a new user!)
In fact I bought four of the beds for my kids.
Largely based upon its stellar >380 5+ reviews on the Argos website.

However the beds all quickly became faulty- the metal slats in each of them became bent.

My complaint is that I'm not able to leave a review on the website; which makes and I've asked @Argoshelpers on twitter to let me know how to leave a review but they've refused to do so. Makes me think that Argos are manipulating their reviews to dupe us consumers.

Please let's start a campaign to sort out online reviews for products in general (and Argos specifically) so that we're not mislead.

Kind Regards,
Hass

You have to be invited to post a review.

Argos are a huge company and sell a lot of different products.

If you call them, I'm sure they will help you sort the problem out, either with a refund or replacement. You may have to back this up with evidence and in writing.

  • It depends on the review site, but in general yes, most reviews are manipulated. to get a verified review badge you need to get a specific invitation, which is usually send only to happy clients

Argos is invite only, however they dont "manipulate" as ive left both good and bad reviews for items.
  • From the source code of the website it looks like all reviews and Q&A is managed by a company called BazaarVoice and not Argos.

I doubt if Argos have time or would even benefit from manipulating reviews, they probably add and remove thousands of products every season and reviews probably help them decide which ones to ditch.

There’s been a lot of articles recently about people being paid to leave good reviews

I bought something from Amazon Marketplace in the summer. The item didn’t work properly and I gave it a bad review. When I asked for my money back they said I couldn’t have it until I removed my review:eek:

A quick word with Amazon’s customer service and I noticed the seller had disappeared from the site. I got my money back very quickly after that.

Seems like it’s a bit of a minefield these days

What were you doing that caused the metal slats to bend. :j
