Passport expires in April?

Hi!

I know this question will have been asked any number of times but I Google repeatedly and can't find a definitive result I'm confident in, so hoping someone can point me in the right direction!

My passport expires at the start of April next year. I deliberately didn't book any trips in my week off (happening now!) due to this. Can someone clarify, can I travel within Europe with this passport? Am I likely to be refused entry? Should I be okay returning home?

Some searches seem to say I still need six months, some three months. When you now use the official '.gov' passport calculator it simply says any changes don't take place until the start of February 2020.

Help!

Until then, no extra period of validity is required for travel within the EU.

Stick with official sites. To the best of my knowledge there has not been any requirement for 6 months to expiry for travel in the EU for many, many years. There is certainly no current requirement for that. I've never heard the 3 month variant.

So long as the UK is part of the EU, all that you need is a passport (and might even be able to travel once it has expired). Once the UK is not a member it is probable that you will need six month's validity: we don't really know as yet.

There will never be any issued about getting home with a valid passport (even if it expires the day you get back).
