Hello,
I've just moved into a new house with a lovely looking Lacanche range cooker with a gas oven.
The only problem is, when we cook on it, it seems to have no control. I bought a oven thermometer and can get temperatures in excess of 250oC on gas mark 1.
I am not much of a cook, but I can't even cook a pizza on this thing.
I would love some help to identify the problem and my family would be eternally grateful.
Thanks,
Matt

It would seem that the thermostat isn't working, but that is no more than a guess based on what has been explained. All I can suggest is a search for a local dealer and contact them in the first instance.0

The oven thermostat is broken, simple as that. Go to an appliance spares website and see if you can get a replacement, if its complicated get a man/woman in to do it.0

The charge is £140.00 including Vat, which includes the first 30 minutes on site. Thereafter the charge is £21.00 including Vat per 15 minutes or part thereof. Parts are chargeable.

OP, have a look at L&G cooker cover or other similar products. When our range cooker broke down a couple of years ago, they let us take out an annual policy and they'd come out and fix the existing issue with the cooker. I think we paid about £120 for the policy, and the engineer had to make 3 trips as there was a problem with the electric and gas parts of the cooker. Needed a few parts as well, so pretty confident we were quids in.0

Looks like a replacemnt thermocouple is ~£26 and a regulator valve is about £160 incl delivery.
