I've had my own website since 2001 - nothing big or special, just a point of reference for folks that need info about something of ours.
I used to point it at a plusnet page that someone did for us and now it points to a Weebly page I did myself
It's always been with UK2.net and is due for renewal at the end of the year ..

Hi J B,
This is a friendly reminder that your services below with UK2, are due for renewal in 30 day(s) on 2019-12-29T00:00:00.
Your service will automatically renew 7 days before the expiry date, provided that your payment details are up to date on the account.
We will renew the following services:
Tax (20%): £7.80
Total: £46.77
Are there better deals out there?
Is it simple to change?

Normally you find a new provider, open an account with them (that doesn't involve getting a new domain) and then request a transfer.
123-Reg have a step by step guide which is not a specific recommendation for them but gives you an idea of what process is needed:

I did a bit of digging around and couldn't make much sense of 123 or Go Daddy or Cheap something
Then suddenly realised that I also have an account with 1&1
Phone them and they offered free web diversion, free registration for the 1st year and then £10 p.a. so went with that.0 -
