Retrieving Old photos from 'damaged screen' Motorola Moto G !

Good evening All,

I have an old motorola phone whose screen is dodgy. How could i retrieve those old photos?

Either connect phone to pc/laptop and copy & paste or if you have a cloud
Based açcount (Google photos, Dropbox, OneDrive etc) just login and download

1) I have done that. i cant access the photos

2)I do have google photo but it wasnt linking together.

When you connect your phone to a PC it starts charging it by default.

You don't say what version Moto G you have but you need to change it from charging to file transfer.This might explain it better https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-207459/

The phone needs to be unlocked. You need to make sure you have allowed file transfers.

If the screen is knackered then enabling MTP (file transfer) after connecting the USB may be a matter of trial and error ... try to press the part of the screen where you think the MTP prompt/option will be.

"screen is dodgy", does that bean the picture is unwatchable in places, no picture, touch screen is not working, intermittenf?

I would try file manager + app on the phone. Select "access from a PC" option this turn your phone into an ftp server. from here I use filezilla (ftp client), but think a web page may also work?

Have you signed into your gmail account on a PC.

The photos will be in google photos if it was set up properly

If the touch is not working, but you are still able to see the screen, just connect a USB mouse to the phone and use that.

Thanks, I have just learnt about USB OTG cables.
