50th Birthday - what to buy?

My uncle is 50 on Saturday but unsure of what to buy him, we are close ish but i'm closer to his wife (my mums sister). I normally just get him a card but as he is 50 i thought i would get a nice present for him but stuck at what to get him.

I dont want to get him a watch etc as he already has loads of them, just something small and about £20-£30 ish

Anyone got any ideas?

Cufflinks, hip-flask (if he's one for a tipple now & again), good bottle of malt whisky or cognac....

A good book? If he was ever a monty python fan you could get him michael palin's diaries. I just started reading them and they are great although I'm not a python fan at all myself!

Men of this age are very difficult to buy presents. Last week I bought my dad a ticket to the final of the World Snooker Championship at Wembley in January £35 from Ticketmaster.

Have a look on their website you can always find comedy or concert tickets which will be between £20-£30. Last year I bought my dad a book which was from the "Grumpy Men" show, he loves it and thinks it is hilarious because he relates to everything they say.

Other than that M&S or House of Fraser vouchers have always been greatly received.
